Luke 6:30-31 (KJV)

30Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. 31And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

Gods' word supports alms and offering. God is no mans' debtor but He is rich to all that call on Him. He tells us that as we have been given He also wants us to be givers.

 Luke 6:38 (KJV)

38Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Matthew 5:42-45 (KJV)

42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Givers think about how they can make things happen for others, Takers think about what they can get The offering they produce is never a gift but only a wage. They are always waiting for a pay back. We have gone to many nations that are poor in currency but rich in love. In these places blessing grows and God makes provision. In other nations the currency is good but the people see themselves as someone that needs help and think they are unable to assist others. The Bible says as a man thinks in His heart so He becomes. In these places churches are small and powerless. Embracing the role of the taker neutralizes your influence in the earth. Anything that grows only inside and refuses to reach out slowly starts to die. God is a giver and created you in His image. You were born to give and become an answer for others. Jesus says I came to bring you life and life in abundance.

James 2:14-17 (KJV)

14What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?15If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,16And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?17Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

The Good Samaritan

Luke 10:29-37 (KJV)

29But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor? 30And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. 33But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, 34And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. 36Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves? 37And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Jesus said we would always have the poor with us. His ministry on earth made provision for the poor that were with Him. The apostle Paul said it was a principle of the church and the other apostles assigned special ministers to distribute food and goods to those in need in the church.

Acts 11:28-30 (KJV)

28And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.29Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:30Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

Psalm 41:1-3 (KJV)

Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

Here you will see that there are great promises to all of us who choose giving and mercy. These actions affect your health, prosperity, and peace. Future generations will be influenced by the choice you make now. Choose life for others! Freedom follows actions of mercy,

Isaiah 58:6-12 (KJV)

6Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?7Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?8Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward.9Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;10And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday:11And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.12And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
